And you can track it through the hard goods themselves, looking at how the shape of the deck and the substance of the wheels have changed over the half-century since Marty McFly first ripped the handlebars off a kid’s scooter in Back to the Future. Eric Pinto has covered every single inch of his small Bushwick, Brooklyn apartment with a chronology of skateboards. Flat wooden planks with metal wheels, Vision decks with copers and rails in a rainbow of colorways, the actual board Sean Sheffey skated with at the Brooklyn Banks… Eric’s apartment is a museum of skate artifacts.
