How a Skateboarder is Born and MadeThe Boardr Series in Irmo, South Carolina was a blast! I wanted to share a moment from there where we witnessed the birth of a new skateboarder. Bluetile Skateboards was giving out complete skateboards to anyone around without a board. I noticed eight-year-old Yi’mir being one of the most excited, so I documented a bit of his experience. A few minutes after getting his board, he came over to me and asked to skate the contest. He had just learned to drop in the day before on other kids’ boards. That was so good to see a kid at the earliest stage of falling in love with skateboarding as we’ve all been through. Yi’mir joins the skateboarding community and starts his climb in The Boardr Global Rankings way down at 7,119th place and it’s all up from here. See you next year, Yi’mir.
