Skateboarding Changing Lives | Janwaar
Skateboarding Changing Lives | JanwaarDanny Schmidt's 'Janwaar' was an official selection for this year's Mountainfilm Festival in Telluride. Skateboarding is the ideal disruptor to the mainstream mentality for the youth in Madhya Pradesh, one of the largest and poorest states in India. In 2015, a community skatepark was built. Ulrike Reinhard, the creator of the Janwaar park, is all about challenging the status quo and providing a safe space for kids to find their own way. The skatepark has become a haven for the two castes in the village to interact with one another through the shared passion of skating. Watch the short film, above.
