Behind The Scenes: 2021 RED BULL PARIS CONQUESTThe challenge of live broadcasting is that we can only show you the business-end of what are usually a full few days of drama, entertainment and other skateboarding-related tomfoolery. Some people rip in practice, but get unlucky in their runs. Some put down a single ridiculous hammer out of nowhere as soon as they turn up, but get taken out by a heel bruise, or somebody else’s board, straight after: that’s just the nature of the skating game. Friendships- and even the occasional rivalry- are rekindled, and new shared experiences become permanent memories of peak times. Red Bull Paris Conquest was no exception. Taking place as the contest did slap-bang in the middle of Paris during late August 2021, there were side-missions and culture- sampling galore, as well as some insane practice sessions on the unique street course which replicated a half-dozen or so of Paris’ most famous contributions to skateable urban architecture.
