Swimming with GREAT WHITES in Gansbaai, South Africa
Swimming with GREAT WHITES in Gansbaai, South AfricaIncredible experience. In our very short time in Cape Town, we decided to take a go at swimming with the sharks in Gansbaai. We were up at 4am to get ready and make the drive so we got to see a beautiful sunrise on the way. The company had a scientist on board tracking the sharks movement and they were careful only to chum the water and not actively feed the wild animals. Our money for the tour went directly to research and conservation efforts, and we got to see these majestic beasts in their natural environment. Within the first five minutes of stopping the boat, we saw a 12 foot great white. A second slightly smaller one as well a few minutes later. By the time Evan and I got in the water it was all bronze whalers. They stick around for longer after finding out there isn't any food source while the great whites move on relatively quickly. Shot entirely on the go pro hero 7. Thank you to the wonderful scientists doing the work to help understand and protect these sharks. 10/10 experience. Eco tourism win. -Wes www.vanheestvisual.com
