Rides for the Res presented by VANS‘Rides for the Res’ We’re always looking for ways to give back to the community and a couple years ago Ben Dixon brought us the concept of ‘Boards for the Barrio’. This is where we swap out old boards for new or used that are in better shape. Shoes too! Simple but powerful. Needless to say it’s grown and though the name may change for this ‘Give Back’ event - the heart stays the same. This year we were invited out to the San Carlos Reservation to host, thanks to Doug Miles from Apache Skateboards. The event went off without a hitch. To start it off we traded out new completes/decks/wheels/bearings thanks to Timeless, Lamebrain, Thunder, Royal and donations. Skate After School worked with kids inside the GYM (shout out to Natives Di’Orr Greenwood & Tasha Hastings for helping run the clinic) while outside the locals got down on “Tricks for Twenties”. After some slams & some laughs, everyone gathered together for pizza (compliments of San Carlos Cafe). Like any skate event you bet your ass there was a product toss but even better, VANS hooked kids up with new shoes too!
