Vans Shop Riot 2017: Nordics Qualifiers
The latest stop of the Vans Shop Riot series took place in Fryshuset Skatepark in Stockholm. Shops from Finland, Sweden and Denmark all competed in front of a raucous crowd for a place to represent the Nordics in the European finals taking place this September in Italy. The teams were faced with a brand new park nobody had skated before, but delivered with a top-notch level of skateboarding all day long. Ponkes (FI), Lamina (FI), Junkyard (SE), Hollywood (SE), Brädkultur (SE), Coyote Grind Lounge (SE), Kiosken (SE), Ridestore (SE), Stockholm Skatepark Shop (SE) squared off all day and at the end it was Finland’s Ponkes snagging the win. Riders Nikolai Alin, Kasperi, Wilson Makela & Niilo Nikkanen travelled from Helsinki and took home the first prize, ahead of Swedish stores Hollywood and Kiosken. Hollywood’s Eric Hedberg won Nixon Best trick with a massive Switch Bs Hurricane on the full rail, with Simon Hallberg (Brädkultur) providing another highlight with a 50-50 to 50-50 late shuvit.
