Stop #6 of Volcom's WITP Europe 2015 | Helsinki, Finland
The sixth stop of the European Wild In The Parks skate tour took place in sunny Helsinki. Differing from the original date, the competition was held in cosy Tullikirjuri’s skatepark on Sunday 9th of August. Despite the change of the schedule the competition gathered plenty of people to the park to enjoy the sun, BBQ and the relaxed atmosphere. We were happy to have such a great weather and see smile on peoples’ face throughout the day. The 14 and under division had the privilege to start the event. I guess some of the guys had grown up since this division used to be the biggest one, but now the 15-21 had the most participants. The guys at 14 and under showed some crazy skills hitting all the big rails and ledges around the park. The winner, Sakke Leskinen, gave a brilliant performance gathered the most points and deserved himself a spot for the finals at the Berrics. The 15-21 division was tough and full of energy. It was run in two heats and the guys with solid performance made their way to the finals. The battle for the first place was intense, since the top three had only one point separating them from each other. At the end Renni Sivonen finished first and beat the others with his amazing selection of versatile tricks. Finally it was time for open division, which was full of crazy tricks and all the performances followed a high standard. We saw some amazing stuff in both of the two heats and at the end the competition got really really tight. It could’ve been any ones game, but at the end Samppa Salminen took the highest podium landing a whole lot of different tricks for example 360 flip lip slide on a down rail. All in all it was great day with full of happiness and mind-blowing tricks. The weather was once again on our side and it was great to see all the skaters enjoy their time at WITP stop here in Finland. Our thanks to all participants, audience and the people who helped us to make th
