Street League 2015: Louie is in for LA
Street League 2015: Louie is in for LA2011 Street League Super Crown champion Sean Malto will be sitting out for the rest of the 2015 Nike SB World Tour after having an arthroscopic minimally invasive procedure done on his ankle to clean up a bone spur and some scar tissue. Malto had competed in this year’s Tampa Pro contest and was looking forward to taking on the rest of the pros in SLS this year, but needs to get his ankle back to 100%. Malto fully expects to be back on the Tour in 2016. If you are in the Los Angeles area, make sure to come meet Sean and other SLS Pros at PacSun on 3rd Street Promenade in Santa Monica on Wednesday, July 8th at 2pm PT and take your chance at meeting him at Stop One in Los Angeles on July 11th. In other news, as of this past weekend, SLS Pro Davis Torgerson, suffered a rib injury that is keeping him out of the upcoming Los Angeles stop. He is aiming to be back in New Jersey, so he will still have time to shuffle the roster up this season. Replacing Malto and Torgerson on the tour is a perennial top performer in the global skate contest circuit, alternate Louie Lopez. He is leading, non SLS Pros, in SLS Champ Points coming out of Tampa Pro and the SLS Nike SB Pro Open. These Champ Points earned them the alternate spots for the 2015 season, similar to 2014’s Chicago Shuffle with Felipe and Alec. Lopez is a strong candidate for promotion into SLS twice this year already, at the Tampa Pro contest and the Barcelona Pro Open, but lost to newcomers Kelvin Hoefler, Felipe Gustavo, Evan Smith, and Cody McEntire in both events. Lopez, this year’s elevated alternates, have such consistency in their contest skating it makes them legitimately scary foes for the rest of the pros because it gives them a real shot at winning at each stop they skate. We wish Sean Malto and Davis Torgerson speedy and full recoveries and are very pleased to have such stand-up professionals like Louie Lopez is now on the 2015 Nike SB World Tour.
