Ethernal Skate Films / Interview Sterling Downey X Sk8 Legalization Bike Paths Montreal (GSD 2015)During Go Skateboarding day that took place recently at Peace Park in Montreal we had the chance to hang out with Sterling Downey, skateboarder and City Councillor in Verdun (District Desmarchais) to talk about the skateboard legalization on the bike paths of Montreal. Sterling worked on the project to convice the City of Montreal to legalize skateboarding on the bike as an active way of transportation. In this video interview, he explains why it’s been ridiculous for so many years for skaters not to have the right to use skateboarding to go from one place to an other. Sterling Downey also put the focus on the importance of not giving up when things are not working first try in order to achieve your goals (skate, politic, improve skateboarding in your community). Skateboarding is not a crime! ////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////// Lors du Go Skate day qui a pris place à la Place de la Paix à Montréal récemment on a eu la chance de s’entretenir avec Sterling Downey, Skater et Conseiller de Ville dans l’Arrondissement Verdun (secteur Desmarchais) qui a travaillé sur le dossier ayant permis de légaliser le skateboard sur les pistes cyclables à Montréal en tant que moyen de transport actif. Dans cette entrevue vidéo, Sterling explique à quel point c’est illogique que les skaters aient pendant si longtemps été bannis des rues alors que le sk8 a toujours été une façon utilisée pour se déplacer. Il nous rappèle aussi à quel point c’est important de ne pas lâcher quand ça fonctionne pas toujours comme on voudrait que ça soit en skate, en politique ou pour améliorer le skateboard dans sa communauté.
