 ZUMIEZ: How did you get on Real? CHIMA FERGUSON: In late 2004, it was. My and my homie Troy, and another homie Jaime Fazackerley were making a video called Killself, and we pretty much just sent the video part from that into Deluxe, and they were down for it. ZUMIEZ: What was the process of designing your shoe like? CHIMA FERGUSON: We pretty much just went from what my other favorite Vans shoe, which is an Authentic. As you can see around the toe, it's got pretty much the same thing going on, but it's a little more built up. The Ultracush, which hasn't been in any Van's shoe, or any other shoe for that matter. Also the duracap, which we have underneath the suede and canvas. And I like with my shoes to be a bit more stylish and dress-like. ZUMIEZ: How much time do you spend in the US and AUS? CHIMA FERGUSON: Probably about 80% of my time in the states and 20% back in Australia now these days. ZUMIEZ: How does it compare? CHIMA FERGUSON: Definitely not as advanced as it is in California, but its kind of why I like it. I guess it's a lot more relaxed, not so serious. ZUMIEZ: How did you link up with Odd Future? CHIMA FERGUSON: I guess it sounds kind of lame but talking to all those guys on twitter is how I got to know them, so.. ZUMIEZ: Any advice for AMs and their quest to go PRO?
