Tyler Cushat and Some Friends
Well I just got a 7" field monitor for my camera rig and I wanted to see how it did. Definitely made filming lines harder hahaha, but I can see it being useful for everything else. The extra weight also helps reduce shakiness. Although I don't think I filmed some of these shots to well. The rolling ones turned out pretty cool though. The monitor is good during the day cause I can still see the screen. The GH2 LCD screen is pretty crummy in the daylight.
I filmed this in 1080 60i and put the vid in 50% slow motion. You can see a little bit of interlacing if you full screen it, but its good enough for the internet. The other option is to film it in 720 60p, which looks good too. I've been going back and forth between them trying to decide which one I like better. The 1080i definitely comes out sharper with more detail, but the 720p doesn't have the interlacing. However when you try to sharpen up the 1080i it doesn't turn out to well.
I've been practicing color grading quite a bit lately. A nice dark, colorless crappy day to test my abilities! I put in about 8 hours color grading this footage hahaha. Lots of trial and error. It doesn't look as good as anything Ty Evans would do, but it sure as hell looks a lot better than the original files. The night footage turned out poorly cause they were shot slightly under exposed and at a bad temp. They looked terrible. I managed to get them looking decent. Most of the beginning clips turned out pretty well. Edited with Premiere CS6. I added a small amount of yellow to the highlights which shows up in the sky mostly. Then I added a small amount of orange to the midtones. Added a small amount of orange across the board with the fast color corrector. Luma corrected the gama on every clip. Increased the saturation a fair amount and added a tiny bit of contrast to everything. Also added a small amount of sharpening. It still looks somewhat soft if you full screen it
