Hometown Heroes Skate: Denver 2011 hhskate.com Supporting skateboarding and holding it down in Denver for years, the 303 skateshop came out and showed its support for Hometown Heroes on this mild and serene Denver Sunday. In a stroke of construction genius, the Commerce City skatepark exhibits a mirror-like symmetry; every obstacle you could hit backside on the left half of the park, you can go over and bust it out frontside on the right side of the park. The park boasts two 10 stair sets with handrails and a euro-gap in the center. This would be the sight of the hammer-dropping madman fest that would be the Hometown finals. Big tricks went down all over the street course! Killers like Isiah Sanchez rocked the stairs in the finals with steezy tricks like a half-cab to feeble grind down the handrail and frontside halfcab flip down the stairs. Wyatt Milhollan dropped smooth tricks all over the course as did Phil Hansen. Both shredders utilized the trannies, ledges and stair sets to their advantage. Julian Christianson would once again be the standout man of the day with insane tricks like switch 270 lipslides and switch 180 nosegrinds down the handrail.
