It was a stinking hot day down at Australia’s greatest skatepark for the final event on our SbA ACT Hub Calendar for 2012 and the Shifty’s Kristmas Karnage didn’t disappoint! This event was loosely structured where a “best trick” was awarded for each of the sections as well as some random proddy given out by “Santa Cons” for shredding or just ruling at life. A huge thanks to sponsors Shifty’s, Picture Wheels, Holiday Skateboards and Modus Bearings for all the prizes. Cons and I had our beards sprayed white to ensure authenticity. It was super hot wearing a santa suit and all of us had our pants rip pretty much straight away as soon as we sat down. Custom air con! Heaps of crew came down despite the heat, and the “free skate” style of the session meant anyone who signed up could easily get out there and have a go! Mick and Flash from Shifty’s tirelessly manned the BBQ in the sweltering conditions, and Anthony Chicco amused the crowd giving “gifts” and shredding in his santa outfit. Santa Cons was a classic on the mic, keeping the crowd laughing and the geeing up the competitors to shred! The 14 and Unders were split into the top section and bottom sections of Belco skatepark. For the 15 and overs we had three sections: 1. The top plaza 2. The transition sections of the tranny manny and loveseat 3. The 7 stair hammerz. A huge amount of shredding went down and there were far too many tricks to mention. A massive thanks to everyone for making it a great day, thanks to Cons and Mick from Shifty’s, and also Simon Wills for helping me with the difficult task of judging!
