2017 Tacoma Bike jump Gaytron the imploder Shop tourGet a Glimpse at the man the myth the legend that On a rain-slick October night in 2017, a crowd packed the narrow alley at Sixth Ave & I Street in Tacoma for “The Big Bike Jump.” The scene felt part neighborhood kegger, part art-happening: music thumping, people shoulder-to-shoulder, and a glowing barricade of neon tubes wired to a monster transformer. Tacoma artist Galen McCarty Turner—better known in this moment as his alter ego, “Gaytron the Imploder”—worked the crowd, then pedaled hard and burst through the neon wall in a crackle of electricity and flying color, a tradition he’d been staging since 2009.
