Glenn Akira Kaino is a Japanese American conceptual artist who has used his upbringing as an “off brand skateboard kid” to create meaningful bodies of art that make a statement. Inspired by the tensions of society, new ideas that haven’t been explored, and his own personal history, Glenn’s work has made significant impacts in the art world. Kaino is proud to tell a story with every piece he creates and hi current show, Aki's Market at Los Angeles’ JANM, explores his family relationships and his own upbringing that shaped who is is today. Combining the artist's childhood love for skateboarding with the influential imagery of Katsuhiro Otomo's animated film Akira, The Berrics and Glenn created one-of-a-kind deck that similarly combines Kaino's past experience with the present and future, as explored in the museum exhibition.
