JEFF GROSSO - THE RAW FOOTY 1989 from SANTA CRUZ SPEED FREAKS SKATE VIDEOJeff Grosso will be forever remembered as an extremely talented skateboarder, and funny and entertaining personality. This was filmed during the shooting of Speed Freaks for Santa Cruz Speed Wheels . He is greatly missed and his legacy lives on forever. . "Long before Vans Jeff Grosso's Love Letters To Skateboarding, he was a young, highly paid professional skateboarder. In the late 80's he was a rising star, appearing on the cover of Thrasher, Trans World Skateboarding, and featured in ads and videos worldwide. When I showed to film his Speed Freaks part, I was hyped as Grosso was one of my favorite skaters and this was a great opportunity to show the world what he could do. Unfortunately, when I showed up to film his part, he didn't want to skate! I said to Jeff "You are going to have a part in this video either way- skating or showing what you do instead. He was fine with that. There was a thing at this time where showing an 'I don't care" attitude was considered "punk", especially regarding commercial endeavors and making a joke of getting paid was an alternative to appear as though one was "selling out". After a lot of heckling from his friends he finally did take a few runs but his heart was not in it and he was unable to perform at his own level. Years later he said he regretted missing this opportunity. Hopefully this footage will serve as a cautionary tale to young skateboarders coming up that drugs are bad and will ruin your career." - Tony Roberts .
