A Day In Canada With Ryan Decenzo | Field DaySpend sun up to sun down on the skate programme around Vancouver BC with our main man Ryan Decenzo, as we share a Field Day down memory lane with Canada’s most decorated street skater of all time. Morning finds us at the old Decenzo family homestead in North Delta, not far from the US/ Canadian border, where Ryan’s father talks to us about his son’s first dalliances with danger- riding dirt bikes on ice as a reckless youth. After checking out his childhood home, we hightail it to the North Delta Rotary Skatepark which not only did both Ryan and his ripping brother Scott both sessioned to death as youngsters, but were also involved in the fundraising efforts to build. From there, we roll into Vancouver proper and meet both Mitch Barrette (who you may remember from TJ Rogers’ epic cross-Canadian road trip Steady Pushing last summer) and Mikey Ray at the city’s superb skate plaza for the second of the day’s big throw down sessions, before next heading out into the city streets in search of manual terrain to wind down the tired legs somewhat. At the city’s well-known Terry Fox plaza a plan is hatched to go on a product raid at the headquarters of Red Dragons, Canada’s long-established skate brand, before visiting the Leeside DIY skatepark constructed inside an abandoned bus terminus for the day’s final skate mission.
