Goodpush 2019 by Skateistan South AfricaEvan Dittig of Shred.co asked me to volunteer and come along with him to the Goodpush Summit in Johannesburg South Africa and film some of it. We had an amazing time talking with all the participants and hosts about their organizations and how they are using skateboarding as a tool for social change. Empowering the youth, empowering girls and womxn alike, all while using skateboarding. It was incredible and we made some life long friends. I hope you enjoy this montage of our time spent in South Africa. We landed in Johannesburg and immediately got in a car and drove to Pilanesburg for a sunset safari that night. We were seeing wild animals out in the nature preserve only hours after landing in South Africa. We slept in a tented campsite that night, enjoyed a sunrise safari drive and then we were back on the road to Jo-Burg. We stayed at the backpackers hostel, started by a skateboarder, in the Maboneng Precinct. Highly recommended!! And that next morning it was straight to Skateistan to learn, to skate, and to create meaningful interactions that made us think. Evan has already implanted the knowledge he learned at the goodpush summit in his business and outreach programs. Can't say enough good things about this summit we were graciously invited to.
