Get A Grip Presented by Vans
Get A Grip Presented by Vans“Get a Grip” benefit presented by Vans and hosted by Janthavy Norton was a very unique event. Janthavy came to us with the idea and it was an instant yes. We know that skateboarding and art go hand in hand, so the idea of bringing the two together for a night out just made sense. “I remember when I thought of ‘Get a Grip’ benefit, I was so excited I typed up an event outline that night and sent it out.” No matter your artistic skill level, kid or adult, everyone sat down and doodled their brains out. Jalen Noel supplied the music, Spinelli’s Tempe supplied the pizza, Jarrito’s even hooked up the beverages! There was art displayed, art being made, dancing and smiles all around. In effort to raise money for Cowtown S.K.A.T.E.’s project to build a free skate plaza in Central Phoenix - Local artists and industry alike donated one of a kind pieces of work that were then auctioned off. There was also a buy in for the grip art workshop, where $35 got you a deck, grip and art supplies. On top of all that a raffle too. With the communities pulling together we raised over 7K! “With the help of Cowtown and their expertise we organized a truly amazing benefit show. I couldn’t be more grateful for the turnout and everyone’s support. My favorite part is that there’s no age limit with skateboarding and art. We had kids, teens, and adults all participating in the grip art workshop. Overall it was an incredible night filled with smiles, art, fake mustaches, poetry and a community coming together for a great cause. Thanks to everyone that made this possible.” - Janthavy Norton
