Skateboarding videos
Redefined: Carlos Ruiz
Carlos Ruiz’s part in Blind’s 2005 release What If, still stands as one of the most controversial skate parts to be included in a major brand’s full-length video. The young and humble skater from Carson, CA didn’t have amateur or pro status, but was going bigger and harder than most pros at the time, laying down a perfect backlip down El Toro and a clean switch 50-50 down a massive hubba first try. His part unleashed equal amounts of love and hate, spurring an onslaught of debates from Youtube trolls and pros alike on style vs. "carcass hucking" tricks and doing similar tricks on self proclaimed spots. But after the release of What If, where did he go? No new parts, no sponsorships, nothing. After ten years of silence Carlos Ruiz puts the rumors to sleep and addresses the hate that ensued after the part dropped, in Havoc TV’s new skate doc, REDEFINED, featuring first-hand accounts and exclusive interviews with Carlos Ruiz, Antwuan Dixon, Bill Weiss, James Craig, Knox Godoy, Dennis Martin, and more.
