Scottish Skate Crates Episode 5
Scottish Skate Crates Episode 5Episode 5 of Paul 'Paul Vx' McConnach's Scottish Skate Crates In this episode the first section is of some archive footage from when I first started making regular trips through to Edinburgh. Connor "Beans" Mason was one of the first guys from the capital I started to film with often and this is a selection of footage we shot soon after we met. The second part is from a trip up to Dundee years back. Local Blair McCafferty showed us around some spots. Having spent most of my time filming more or less only in the central belt of Scotland it was good to see what other cities had to offer and there was no better person to show us around. Following on from that is a short selection of clips I shot with Brandon Ide. Before i met Brandon I remember seeing his photo skating the Mitchell Rail in Sidewalk. We soon became friends and filmed a lot over the following years. He lives in Dubai now and I think still skates occasionally. After I included some clips Tom Shimmin and I filmed while he was shooting photos for his article in North Magazine. I still get stoked watching the footage of the Switch Bigspin. Finally is some footage of Andy White. We started to skate together when we were around 14 years old so over the years we've filmed often..maybe not with enough focus but it can be hard when your too busy having a laugh. Whether we filmed a hammer or not by the end of the day it was a guarantee we would have some great Hi Jinx at least and the memories to boot. This is just a small glimpse of what that can be like. The wall at the end is no joke either, you'd walk past it and never think to skate it. You have to sort of "spiderman" your way up to reach the top ledge then brush off the moss. In Andy's words he was just "getting a session at the wall".
