ABC 2015 Highlights
The Australian Bowl-riding Championships 2015 celebrated its fourth year of bowlshredding, at the Bar Beach Empire Skatepark. There wasno denying the heightened excitement at yesterday’s epic battle as crowdswatched in the action-packed event. Thousands gathered for the competition on Saturday 7thFebruary 2015 and were treated to a spectacular showing of international andlocal talent. All of the divisions were the strongest ever assembled, Alex Sorgente (USA) who took out the PRO title for the third yearin a row, while Bruno Passos (USA) walked away with the MASTER’stitle, Keegan Palmer topped the 18s& under and Poppy Olsen won theGirl’s Division. The all-inclusive contest welcomes skateboardersof all skill-levels, ages and sex to compete for the total prize pool of$20,000AUD and the chance to win entry to one of the largest professionalconcrete series in the World; Vans BOWL-A-RAMA Bondi 2015. The 2015 Australian PRO Wildcard winners are George Richards (Newcastle,NSW),Jakob Robinson (Ballina, NSW), Renton Millar (Elwood, VIC) and Matt Kitai (Bateau Bay, NSW) and the 2015 Australian MASTER Wild card winner John Grey (Sydney, NSW), John Bogaerts (Newcastle, NSW), NikMendoza (Ourimbah, NSW) and Geoff Fletcher(Manly, NSW). A true highlight of the day was whenLizzie Armanto (USA), who was the first female to ever compete and qualify fora PRO open division finals through ABC™ surprised skaters and guests by flyingin early and dropping into the bowl. “Today was a big thank you and acknowledgementto all the believers who have supported Australian skateboarding.
