Stop #1 of Volcom WITP European Tour 2014 - Nova Gorica, Slovenia
Volcom Wild in the Parks started its 2014 European tour in Slovenia and after a superfun event last year in Slovenj Gradec, we knew this one would be even better as Slovenia got a true brand new concrete park in Nova Gorica.
Saturday, 21st June 2014 was also Go Skateboarding Day, so pretty much every Slovenian skater gathered in Nova Gorica to witness this-and-that. The weekend was packed with action and started on Friday evening with an evening session at the Mostovna club for a WITP preparty. The miniramp night session went wild with some live performance of ska/punk rockers Super Action Heroes and our punk rock friends Backstage.
The sun was shining on Saturday for a perfect summer start with skateboarders all over the city. Before the main event organization Skate with heart (Sk8aj s srcem) made us all go and skate the Nova Gorica streets for a good cause. Smiles on faces of approximately 70 skaters were just a warming up before the Volcom contest.
There were just too many tricks to name them, but in the end winners were crowned and everyone happy (and exhausted) after such a day.
Check out the clip and photos for a taste of the day.
We need to congratulate to everyone attended event, specially Rene Torkar the winner of the kids under 14, where we need to mention Jaka Škrjanc, the youngest competitor (8 years old) and Larisa Podgornik, who was the only skater girl at the event. Congratulations to Jakob Vilhar for 1st place in the category between 15 and 21 years and to Christopher Khan for the win in the open category.
Thanks to every single sponsor that made the event happen and good luck to all the 15 riders (first 5 from each category) in the European championship in ...........
