Vans Shop Riot 2014 Poland
It was our pleasure to hold this year's edition of Vans Shop Riot in a wonderful skatepark in Piaseczno near Warsaw. The number of shops taking part in this 100% skate event exceeded our boldest expectations -- there were seventeen of them! The riders came from almost every region of Poland and we haven't seen so many great contestants at once in a very long time. The specificity of the park forced us to run the preliminary rides in two different sections -- the transition and the street ones respectively. That also made the contest a bit "shattered" at the beginning. It also had an impact on the number of spectators, although even hail wouldn't discourage those several hundreds of hardcore skaters who answered our calls. The best trick competition, held under the Skateparki.pl sponsorship with rewards of 1000 złotys in cash (in "paid for tricks" formula) turned up the heat, even despite the rain that was yet to fall that day. The rides in the street section were held without any weather interference and the team riders gave their best! Finally we had a spontaneous best trick competition in the bowl. We witnessed lots of awesome tricks from Kuba Brniak, Marcin Baca Duch, Michał Zarzycki and Aleks Żerwe, but it was Mateusz Okuła of Locals Shop who topped everything with a crazy transfer with grab from the park section to the bowl and thus he won 1000 PLN from skateparki.pl (the company that built this amazing park). Nervous Shop, last year's winners, as well as this year's favorites, didn't disappoint either. The team consisting of Piotr Elbert, Łukasz Kuza, Ka
