The World of Volcom Stone | Paris, France
Last Saturday 5th of October, Volcom Clothing hosted an afternoon celebrating the brand and its unique values in Paris. "The World Of Volcom Stone" showcased the international première of Veeco's latest film "True To This" , a skateboarding demo and a concert of the band Black Bananas. All this was for free as per usual. The public could interact at some DIY stations with Volcom employees, to have some tee shirts screenprinted, some hats customized, some buttons stamped...get creative with the copy machine, and of course walk away with a million more goodies. Some skate obstacles were especially made for the event and were also open to skate for everyone and soon a couple of good tricks got landed by local Frenchmen such as Robin Bolian or Jerôme Prefot. At around 6 pm things went crazy with the Pros taking over the course. The Volcom Skate Team includes some of the best skateboarders on the planet...and with such heavy hitters the demo went nuts. The skateboard team in Paris consisted of back to back Skaters Of The Year (voted by Thrasher Magazine) David Gonzalez and Grant Taylor, legend Rune Glifberg, superhuman Collin "Spider" Provost, Kingpin's European favorite Eniz Fazilov, Belgian prodigy Axel Cruysberghs, all terrain shredders Alain Goikoetxea and Ben Raemers, and local team rider Vincent Coupeau, Dennis Busenitz was also present but injured. The demo started full force with the two SOTY David Gonzalez and GT flying around; unfortunately Collin got hurt during the first minutes of the demo while landing a massive fs ollie, slaying the quarter pipe at the same time, adding some gnarlitude to the thing. The crowd went wild with all the tricks landed, and then Axel and Eniz together closed the session on the stone obstacle respectively with a fs flip revert and a huge fs 360.
