Hometown Heroes Skate: Salt Lake City 2011 hhskate.com The road to victory is paved with trials and tribulations of all sorts. This Hometown Heroes stop proved to be an arduous battle against not only the fellow competitors but against nature herself. Like a fisherman out in a storm, these competitors were subject to all the elements but wouldn't relent. The practice rounds went off smoother than expected. Just as the zero hour was upon us, the winds of change took a turn from milky white peace clouds, to the black thunderstorm of destruction. It seems preposterous to believe how such a serene day can take a total 180 into dark gloom and high-speed winds of medieval proportions. There is no question that raw shredding lives and breathes here in Salt Lake. Although the weather that slapped us in the face was ugly and challenging, the skaters made it their mission to not let it deter them from true balls-to-the-wall ripping. Bitter cold winds took out the Chipotle tent and Hometown's own Teck-Deck table found itself in harms way as well.
