Hometown Heroes Skate: Omaha 2011 hhskate.com Omaha, Nebraska. One of the biggest crowds we've seen at any Hometown event came out and represented in this Midwest City of Shred. Of the over 300 attendees sprawling the grounds, the Hometown judges had to cut off registration at a hundred rippers. Roberts Skatepark features a mad snake run emptying out into a spine cradle section of superior transition. This tranny section, although vast and enjoyable to all skill levels of four-wheeled schralpers, is not the area of concern for the Hometown crew. We move on to the street course. A pyramid, a couple of quarter pipes and an eight stair encapsulates the street area. Due to the straight on format of the street section and the madness of over a hundred dudes, the park isn't built for headcracking mash-ups. There were certainly some collisions. Throughout the comp, we saw high-flying colliding traveling like opposing forces of weather fronts creating a hurricane of destruction. The finals came down to dudes like Mason Elsasser who rocked the handrail with several tricks and stepped it up to the hip with sweet ally-oop varial flips. A man by the name of Rat Nutz came out strong with full-speed front nosegrinds on the flat
